Your First Appointment

Please arrive 15 minutes early so that our front desk staff can help you to complete all necessary paperwork.  This will mean that you get the most out of your treatment time with the phyisical therapist.

During your initial evaluation the therapist will gather information regarding your medical history, your current problem, how this problem is impacting your daily life, and what your goals are for the outcome of your physical therapy.

Next, the therapist will conduct the objective portion of the exam.  This will usually include palpation of joints/soft tissues in the body, neurolgical screening, joint range of motion, muscle strength testing, postural assessment, and special tests and measures that will help us rule in and out certain issues that may be contributing to pain.  The therapist will explain any and all procedures and the reason they are conducting them.

Finally, the therapist will create a treatment plan based on the information gathered.  The treatment plan is throughly discussed with the patient and long and short term goals for physical therapy are developed with patient's input.  The plan overall is developed with input from the physical therapist, the patient's doctor, and the patient themselves.
